Rome 5 days photography workshop

Rome 5 Days Photography Workshop

Duration
April 5 days, 2026

Price
€ 2.000 per person (max 3 participants)
€500 deposit due at registration checkout

Join me for five full days of mastering light and composition in Rome—my home and endless visual inspiration. We'll work through every hour of the day: early morning markets when side light reveals texture, midday architectural studies when most photographers rest, golden hour street scenes, and blue hour when the city transforms into something otherworldly.

This is intimate instruction—maximum 3 participants. We'll shoot in locations tourists never find: Garbatella's rationalist architecture and working-class neighborhoods, EUR's fascist-era monumentality, hidden courtyards in centro storico where Romans actually live. As someone born and raised here, I know where morning light hits travertine perfectly, which corners still hold authentic Roman life, how to move through this city like you belong.

Daily shooting sessions combined with review sessions where we discuss not just what you captured, but why it works. You'll learn to anticipate moments before they happen, compose with depth and layers, develop a body of work that tells Rome's story through your vision. Whether you're refining your street photography or building visual narrative skills, I'll work with you individually to push your creative boundaries.

GEAR

I encourage participants to shoot with gear they're very familiar with. Comfort is important as we'll be walking several hours daily. Bring a DSLR or mirrorless camera with multiple lenses—you'll want versatility for both architectural storytelling and intimate street moments.

It's strongly encouraged to bring a laptop computer or tablet to review your work after each shooting session. Post-processing is optional and you can use the software you're most familiar with.

FAQ

What's the difference between the 3-day weekend workshop and this 5-day workshop?
The weekend workshop focuses on intensive street photography fundamentals. This 5-day workshop goes deeper—different times of day, more challenging locations like Garbatella and EUR, portfolio development, and comprehensive visual storytelling. You'll leave with a cohesive body of work.

Do I need to be an advanced photographer?
You should be comfortable with your camera's manual controls. This workshop focuses on vision, composition, and storytelling—not basic settings. If you understand exposure fundamentals and want to develop your eye, you're ready.

What makes Garbatella and EUR special for photography?
These are neighborhoods tourists never see. Garbatella has incredible 1920s rationalist architecture and authentic working-class Roman life. EUR offers monumental fascist-era structures with dramatic light and geometry. Both provide compositional opportunities you can't find in centro storico.

What's the weather like in March?
March in Rome is beautiful—mild temperatures (10-17°C / 50-63°F), perfect for all-day shooting. Occasional rain possible, so bring a light jacket and weather protection for your gear.

Will we have personal shooting time?
Yes. I'll give you assignments and guidance, then time to work independently. We reconvene for critique sessions where we discuss what you captured and why it works (or doesn't).

How much walking are we doing?
Several hours daily, across varied terrain. Rome involves cobblestones, stairs, hills. You should be comfortable with 4-5 hours of walking per day, broken up with breaks and review sessions.

Can I extend my stay in Rome after the workshop?
Absolutely. I'll provide recommendations for locations to photograph on your own, restaurants, and anything else you want to explore. Many participants add a few extra days to practice what they've learned.
